Dear reader,

As you may already know, every student association has a number of committees, which are vital for their good functioning. Uros is not an exception, and it is why we need you now! Members can usually decide to join committees during the General Members Assembly (GMA), which already took place last week. However, we do know that not everyone had the chance to attend and, therefore, join a committee. We then decided to hereby give you an additional introduction of the different committees so that you can now join one.

To join a Uros committee means, adventure, being part of a team, making new friends and a valuable addition to your CV.

We are currently all being limited in our freedom due to the Covid-19 crisis, this applies to all aspects of our lives, and committees’ work is unfortunately not spared. However, this means we need you now more than ever! In addition to being an asset for your association, this opportunity can also allow you to face new challenges and unleash some of your potential and creativity. We at Uros do not want to feel limited, so release your inner turtle and come help us to go around the obstacles and figure out how to, for example, organize corona-proof and fun activities for your fellow members, or solutions for us to still be able to join many more competitions.

If you want to take on more responsibility, a novelty this year is that we would like each committee to have a leader that takes over the coordination of the committee and reports to the board about his/her team’s achievements.

But no stress! If you feel like helping but are not sure yet how much time you would be able to invest in your committee, you can still just join as a member and be part of the team, any help will surely be welcome.

In the following we now present you the committees it is currently possible to join. In case you have any questions or want to join a committee, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. Weekend Committee

The weekend Committee is in charge of organizing the annual members weekend, as well as the trainings weekend.

The purpose of the members weekend is to give (the new) Uros members the chance to get to know their fellow Urosians and create friendships through fun activities.

The trainings weekend combines the two key components of Uros. Training and having fun. During the weekend, you can practice various disciplines and just enjoy yourself and play fun games in between trainings.

In case that you would like to only be involved in the planning of one weekend that is also possible

Time effort per weekend: Over the course of 3 weeks around 2 hours per week

(This is an approximation and can vary depending on the situation and how involved you want to be)

Promotion Committee

The committee is working on Uros’ image and promotion in several ways. First, it supports the PR & Sponsoring commissioner in her quest for new sponsors and discounts for the Uros members. Next to that, the promotion committee can help with tasks related to the association’s clothing brand. Then, it helps promoting the association, by for example coming up with new ideas to increase our visibility. Moreover, the committee can help the vice-president with the handling of social media. This can for example include helping finding ideas about new content and posts. Finally, the committee members are also responsible for creating Uros-related content. Meaning taking pictures and videos at events, which can then be shared on social media.

Time effort: On average less than 1 hour per week

(This is an approximation and can vary depending on the situation and how involved you want to be)

Competition Committee

This committee is responsible for making sure that Uros is represented at competitions. It helps with the organization, such as the logistics of transportation and accommodation for example. The most popular competitions for Uros are the Batavierenrace, the Veluweloop, the NSKs (national student championships) or the UMCs. Another important competition is the annual Uros Teamrace. It is a running competition in which teams of 4-7 members cover a distance of about 5 km together.

In case you wish to only be involved in the planning of one competition, it is also possible.

Time effort: On average less than 1 hour per week

(This is an approximation and can vary depending on the situation and how involved you want to be)

Activity Committee

This committee organizes one or more activities every month. This can vary from BBQ, to playing laser games, from bowling to a games’ night. You already have ideas in mind? Join this committee now! We would love to build on your creative input. This committee is active throughout the year and therefore the workload is relatively distributed.

Time effort: On average 1 hour per week

(This is an approximation and can vary depending on the situation and how involved you want to be)

Magazine (Steddie) Commitee

The committee is in charge of Uros’ very own magazine: the Steddie! Our dear journal reports stories about various topics, such as activities, competitions, and of course some gossips within Uros… The members of the committee are then responsible for the redaction of the magazine. This can include writing articles themselves or finding some fellow members to write some interesting stories to share with everyone. Steddies are published 4 times a year.

Time effort: On average less than 1 hour per week

(This is an approximation and can vary depending on the situation and how involved you want to be)
