Meet the 36th Board!

President – Emma Stamm

Hello everybody!

My name is Emma and I’ll be the new President of the 36th Board of Uros. I am a 22 years old German student here in Maastricht. I am currently studying European Studies in my second year. 

I did athletics from the age of 10 until I was around 13 years old. Afterwards I figured out for myself that I enjoy long distances even more than short distances. Ever since I was running on my own. When I came to Maastricht I really wanted to continue my passion of running, which is why I joined Uros. Now I am part of the long distance group, which I really enjoy! 

My favorite Uros memory is by far the Bata-Race last May. Besides running the biggest relay in Europe (!), it was incredibly fun to spend a weekend with Uros.

In my free time I like to spend time with my friends, for example cooking together, study sessions together or going to a cool bar and playing cards. 

I am looking forward to being in this year’s Board, and especially to meeting all the new Uros members! 🙂

Secretary – Kai Lehmensiek

Hi everyone!

My name is Kai and I’ll be the secretary of UROS for the upcoming year. I’m 21, originally from South Africa and this will be my second year studying Business Analytics here in Maastricht.

I joined UROS last year and have mainly been training with the middle-distance group of Atletiek Maastricht. My best event is the 800m, although I also enjoy the 400m and relays. I have raced further than that, but would definitely rather not.

I love competing and have plenty of fond memories with UROS at the NSKs. My favourite NSK was probably the NSK Baan in June, even though getting to Groningen took half a day. We managed to put together a great Olympic relay team and came home with the win and a new club record!

When not training, I’m usually busy recovering from my last track session. Apart from that, I’ve been playing piano for many years and do my best to keep it up. I also love a good book whenever my studies aren’t too demanding.

I’m really looking forward to this year and hope to see plenty of you at training and the NSKs!

Treasurer – Faye de Koo

Hello everybody!

My name is Faye, I’m 23 years old, and I’ll be the treasurer of UROS this year!

I was born in the Netherlands but grew up in Austria. I’m currently studying for a Master’s in Legal Psychology here in Maastricht. 

I started running about two to three years ago and have enjoyed it ever since. Last April, I ran my first half marathon, which was a really exciting experience, and I’m already hoping to run another one soon! Although I usually join the long-distance group, I’ve also tried the short-distance group a few times over the past couple of weeks and have been enjoying it quite a lot!

One of my favourite memories with UROS so far has been the Members Weekend, as well as the Bata (where I had to run in the middle of the night, a little crazy, but it was so much fun!).

In my free time, I enjoy crafting, reading, and going out with my friends. 

I’m really looking forward to this year with UROS and, most importantly, to meeting and getting to know all of you!

PR & Sponsoring Commissioner – Lucinda Schmitz

Hi!
I’m Lucinda, the new PR& Sponsoring for UROS this year. I am originally from Germany, but have lived in Switzerland for most of my life, except for a small detour to the US (it was very interesting, but I had an amazing time). I’m currently in my 2nd year studying International Business. 

I’ve been doing track since 3rd grade and have developed a huge passion over the years that I love to share with people. My two favourite Disciplines are 200m and High jump, but anything above 400m is a biiiiiig no for me! I always enjoyed track, not only because of the Sport, but also because of the amazing community surrounding it. I have met some incredibly nice and fun people that have become life-long friends through athletics. Therefore I am so glad to have found another amazing track community here in Maastricht.!

To be honest, I couldn’t pinpoint one exact favourite UROS memory, but I hold all the training & activities (no matter the shitty weather sometimes, when even my rain jacket didn’t help anymore) as valuable memories. 

In my free time I really enjoy travelling and exploring new places, cooking and of course hanging out with my friends and going out (shout-out to tequila thursday)! 

I am really looking forward to this year and hope to create many more memories with all of you and share my love and excitement for track!

Competition Commissioner – Alix Dumortier

Hi everyone,

I am Alix, and I will be your competition commissioner for this year. I am 19 years old, Belgian (the French part). I am currently in my second year of Arts and culture. And this year is my second year with UROS.

I did 5 years of track when I was younger before taking a break from it to focus on other sports, but eventually, I came back to it 6 years ago. I have always trained for sprints, though a few years ago, I decided to discover the joy of doing combined events and now I am glad to add the hurdles and the heptathlon to my main events. 

Some of my best Uros memories would be the members weekend or the competitions in general.

Outside of track, I really enjoy going out with my friends, but I also love the creative part of me, because, as surprising as it can be, I am also a comedian/actress (in my free time) and one of my dreams would be to create, one day,  my own music. 

Anyways, I am really looking forward having an amazing time with you guys, and lots of fun during practices and competition.
